The concept of the Radford 11m Displacement Powerboat is to motor at hull speed with the maximum efficiency and minimum running costs.

The hull has a long waterline, small volume and lightish displacement to make the use of a low HP engine feasible while achieving the required speed. The waterline length of 10.86m (35'8") gives the maximum waterline speed of 8 knots using a relatively small 30-35HP engine. The boat is not intended, or designed to run at higher speeds and is best suited to inshore and sheltered waters use, although short offshore legs could be made safely in favourable conditions. The displacement requires lighter construction materials such as FRP / foam sandwich or cedar strip.

The R11m accommodation is designed to suit a couple who want a weekender on the water with reasonable comfort and space. It includes a large forward cabin and a head with separate shower stall. The cockpit is quite large and the transom opens onto the boarding platform. Folding chairs and table would be ideal for the cockpit / "verandah". If more people want to stay overnight they can camp on the "verandah".
